FOUR SEASONS HOTEL
OSAKA

TOP

The Four Seasons Hotel Osaka has opened in the heart of the business district, the Dojima area of Osaka, as the first Four Seasons hotel for the city. The new iconic building has been updated with a stunning interior designed by Gwenael Nicolas, Curiosity.
Curiosity was commissioned to design the public spaces, including the reception, lobby, event hall, all-day dining restaurant and bakery, as well as the 154 guest rooms on the upper floors and the Presidential Suite.

ENTRANCE

Osaka is a city that has been a commercial hub in Asia for centuries, with a rich history of trade and exchange. The history of the city and the vibrant, communicative personalities of the local people are reflected in the design of the hotel.

Reflecting the character of the place, the hotel is conceived as the residence of a passionate and curious person travelling through Asia, bringing back experiences and discoveries to share. The meticulously designed space creates an unforgettable experience for visitors and locals alike.

LOBBY

The lobby welcomes guests with a subtle balance between the dynamism of Osaka's history and the delicacy of the hotel's brand, expressed through the combination of energetic stone, reminiscent of Osaka Castle, and exquisite latticework, creating a game of hide-and-seek.

LOBBY

The hotel is a series of surprising encounters and changing scenery. The amber-lacquered lift halls in urushi lacquer bridge the dialogue between tradition and modernity. Specially commissioned works of art bring another layer of contrast and emotion and discovery to the space.

LOBBY

The atmosphere immediately transports visitors into an intimate yet enriching space, like entering a guest house. Inspired by traditional Japanese interiors, the lobby invites visitors to play a game of hide-and-seek as the various functions, reception, salons, teahouse, artwork and floral arrangements are revealed through transparency, creating a peaceful and warm space with layers of latticework.

TEASALON

The lobby is designed as a sequence in dialogue with the exterior garden and water features, which connect the interior and exterior landscapes. The unique layout, a series of skip-shaped rooms, rhythms the visitor's path and creates a destination for each room, with unique features such as the tea house, reception, etc. The feeling recalls the dialogue inspired by Osaka Castle, between the water features of the Dojima River and the dramatic stones of the castle, bringing out the spirit of the historic city.

STAIR

The lobby is highlighted by a large Urushi sculpture by Genta Ishizuka of Kyoto. The majestic staircase is an architectural feature that invites visitors to discover more and leads to the event hall.

DINING
DINING

The main dining room, “Jardin”, is a bright and welcoming space, wide open to the exterior. The restaurant features 3 large andon-like ceiling lights that recall an outdoor gazebo, where customers feel sheltered while enjoying the carefully prepared ingredients. The interior color scheme, muted shades of beige and smoked wood, is highlighted by the green color of the cushions and fabrics, which blend the interior and exterior into one.

ARCH

Thoughtful collaboration with the architects has resulted in a unique layout that expands the perception of space and an exclusive configuration in each guest room. Each room appears to have a different shape and layout. All functions are integrated with strong features in sculptural compositions of dark and light woods that become part of the architecture.

The spice-inspired colour layers of fabrics and objects flow rhythmically into each room, evoking Osaka, the trading hub of Asia. Each type of room has a single colour scheme: the 2-bedroom suite has a shade of yellow inspired by the spice turmeric, while the standard room expresses the spice cinnamon.

PRESI

The Presidential Suite is designed as a series of interconnected pavilions in the style of a traditional Japanese residence, with interiors that emphasise the function and identity of each room.

TABLE

While unexpected and dramatic works of art, objects created by emerging Japanese artists add a sense of modernity and drama that completes the experience visitors will cherish.

PRESIDENT bed

All rooms are united by a refreshing blue and grey palette inspired by water and the ocean, evoking a journey through Asia with shades of blue, sen wood tones and accents of smoked dark wood, creating a sense of understated luxury reminiscent of Japan's most secluded treasures.
